B.R.A.V.E. - University of Chicago Laboratory Schools

I had the most incredible time documenting the B.R.A.V.E student led conference at The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools on April 10th. The students organized an incredible morning that included a keynote address by CEO of Chicago Executives Club Dorri McWhorter that engaged students in empowerment and critical thinking about the possibility of creating your own narrative. Students then attended break out sessions where they painted a mural titled “No the Olvides de donde Vienes,” Don’t forget where you come from which was a powerful piece where students collaborated in creating a community mural about identity. I had the opportunity to visit all workshop rooms and each one had a unique message of empowerment and authenticity. How to make an American Dream Cake was one of my favorites!
